Orchard Park Shopping Centre
The Orchard Park Mall Centre is a regional hypermarket in the city of Kelowna BC. It is the largest retail mall in the Okanagan. It’s on Harvey Avenue (Highway 97), south of Dilworth Mountain, at the intersections of Cooper Road and Dilworth Drive. Orchard Park Shopping Centre, with over 170 shops and services, is the largest shopping mall between Greater Vancouver and the Calgary Region.
Orchard Park, located on a former orchard, opened on September 28, 1971. The original mall design also include anchor stores Simpsons-Sears and The Bay (albeit The Bay did not open until 1972) as well as a corridor of 35 smaller companies. The mall was extended in 1980 with the addition of a Woolco department store and a food court. It grew again in 1992 with the addition of Eatons before reaching its current size in 2011 with the addition of Best Buy.
Sears Canada stated on October 10, 2017 that it will seek court authority to shut all of its remaining stores, including the Orchard Park Sears and Sears Home locations. Sears Home closed in November, and Sears Full-Line Store closed on January 8, 2018. The later shop’s destruction began in March.
We Have The Anchor Stores Which Are:
- Hudson’s Bay: The Hudson’s Bay Company, founded on May 2, 1670, opened its first department store in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1881. Before being rebranded as The Bay in 1965, the chain was known as the company name. It operated exclusively in Western Canada until the second half of the twentieth century, when acquisitions and conversions of department stores Morgan’s, Freiman’s, Simpson’s, and Woodward’s, along with the opening of new locations, positioned its presence nationwide.
- Best Bay: Best Buy is a multinational corporation headquartered in Canada that previously operated in China until February 2011.
- Indigo Books and Music: Indigo is a Canadian bookstore chain that is also spelled “!ndigo.” It is the country’s largest book, gift, and specialty toy retailer, with locations in all ten provinces and one territory, as well as a website selling books, toys, home décor, stationery, and gifts. A Starbucks café can be found inside the majority of Chapters and Indigo stores.
- Shoppers Drug Mart: A retail pharmacy chain based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It operates over 1,300 stores in nine provinces and two territories under the name Shoppers Drug Mart, as well as Pharmaprix in Quebec.
